Values

Studies

Advanced learning methods

The study process is delivered using internationally recognized study methods and instruments: engineering team projects using modern diagnostic technologies and design environments – CATIA, ADAMS, SolidWorks, etc. – used by international companies in the vehicle development industry.

Creative activities

Motivated and proactive students

The programme is attended by advanced students holding high aspirations, who have associated own future with vehicle development since childhood – the motivation to improve the acquired practical skills and knowledge leads to development of the creative atmosphere, including the projects implemented by the Vehicle Engineering students, such as: The Student Formula, Driving Simulator, Experimental Hybrid Vehicle, Electric Car, Electric ATV, Karting, Buggie, etc.

Skills

Practical applicability of the acquired knowledge and skills

Having gained knowledge in transport engineering, the graduates will be able to design the equipment, apply relevant methods and technologies in investigation of the issues of functionality and reliability of vehicles with conventional and hybrid powertrain, their systems, create and develop them, investigate and simulate engine operation and parameters, work at the companies operating in vehicle design, manufacturing and modernization, such as: JSC ALTAS Commercial Transport, JCS Elinta, JSC Schmitz Cargobull Baltic UAB etc.

Career

Great career prospects in transport

Creative programme graduates who associate their future with the engineering activity have great prospects for successful international careeer working at vehicle design, manufacturing and repair companies and participating in various vehicle manufacturing and upgrade projects: road vehicle engineers  engineering constructors / investigators, and transport specialists.

Infrastructure

State-of-the-art research laboratory research base and software

Specialized research equipment and software available at the Transport and Mechatronic System Research and Aerodynamic Research Laboratories are used for programme delivery and in the research of final projects: wind tunnel, DL equipment for registration of vehicle movement dynamic parameters,  TRITOP photogrammetry equipment for detection of deformations of vehicle structures, vehicle comfort and safety system and ICEs with Common-Rail injection system and electronic control unit benches, BOSCH ESI-Tronic software, test bench for characteristics of suspension damping elements, defectoscopes for non-destructive control, vehicle control and steering equipment with fuel monitoring capability, magnetic and eddy current traffic flow modeling software VISSIM and VISUM.

Testimonials

Edvardas Radzevičius

JSC ALTAS Commercial Transport", General Manager

At our company we perform modification of minibuses by the German producers Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz according to the specific needs of the clients, adapting them to the needs of passenger transportation or emergency services, therefore not only the knowledge of modern production equipment and LEAN management is relevant, but also methodologies of development of vehicles and understanding of "green technologies" (alternative fuel and hybrid power units), when design solutions are made in cooperation with German engineers-constructors during modification of the body and development of the low floor hybrid passenger busses.

Mindaugas Stonkus

Ford Motor Company (Germany), Engineer-Constructor

Successful engineering activities at the foreign capital company are enabled by the knowledge acquired during studies at KTU and possibilities of its implementation at the students’ projects – team work skills, acquired during participation in development of an experimental hybrid car, are particularly valuable.
