Leadership for Sustainable Development

Would you like to become a leader who inspires and supports action towards a better world? The modules of the competence provide you an opportunity to gain key characteristic traits and styles which are the most important to lead sustainability processes: systemic, interdisciplinary understanding; value based orientation that shapes the future and competitiveness of your company; a willingness to innovate and be radical; and acting having in mind long-term perspective on impacts. You will get understanding how “do more and better with less,” increase net welfare gains from economic activities by reducing resource use, degradation and pollution along the whole lifecycle, while increasing quality of life, how to involve different stakeholders, including business, consumers, policy makers, researchers, scientists, retailers, media, and development cooperation agencies, among others.

Study subjects

Sustainable Consumption and Production (T270M017)
The students are taught to understand conceptions of sustainable development and consumtion, to take in role of consumer industry in Sustainable development. The knowledge about the general elements, tools and indicators of SID are provided for students. The students’ abilities to work with environmental lows and legal requirement are improved. The students acquire to systematize all got engineering, environmental, economic, financing and legal knowledge, to put its into practice, analyzed possibilities of sustainable development for separate sectors of economy.
Design of Sustainable Value Chains (T270M129)
This discipline will give the following results: the master study will know and will understant the basic methodologies for the systems analysis. Will have the ability to evaluate the systems using envionmental, economic and social analysis methods. The students will have the understanding about the importance of the information flows and their relationship with the current economic, production, market other systems, and the possible impact to the sustainability of the mentioned suystems. Students will be familiar with the differences of the production and service value chains, they will be able to design sustaibale value chains based on the software and introduced best practice examples.
Corporate Social Responsibility (T270M104)
The students are taught to understand the principles of corporate social responsibility, its evolution, modern concept and main terms. Learn how to identify social partners and interested parties of specific business activities and develop the social partnership policy and strategy for the organization. The course will provide knowledge of corporate social responsibility management system standards and legal acts. The students are taught to understand and implement requirements of CSR management system and its relation with other management systems. The student will gain the general knowledge of other, closely related occupational health and safety, quality and integrated management systems.
