Intensive English language preparatory course

About

This intensive course in academic English will help you prepare, and support you throughout, your university studies. The core components of the course focus on the skills required to function independently and effectively in a university environment and explore in depth the academic language needed to practice study skills.
The course is held in a group of 5-7 students.
A2 – B1 and/or B1 – B2 levels are offered in the course. Each level is finalised with an exam.

Advantages: English language certificate; B2 holders are eligible to be enrolled for degree programmes without IELTS/TOEFL.

The length of the course is 12 ECTS/semester.

 

Duration

The duration of English preparatory course can be from 1 to 2 semesters. Two levels of English can be finish during one semester.

 

Tuition fee

The tuition fee for the preparatory course is 700 Euros.

Entry requirements

English preparatory (foundation) course is offered only to those who intend to continue Bachelor’s or Master’s studies at KTU but do not have required English language proficiency. Therefore the applicant must meet the requirements of the selected programme (chosen in the application form).

 

Previous education requirements

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Russian.

The applicant must present all the documents which are requested to enter Bachelor’s or Master’s programme which is chosen after the preparatory course is completed.

The documents must be legalised (Apostille) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued. This requirement does not apply for the documents issued in the EU and Belarus, Ukraine.

Upon arrival the accepted student must bring all the notary verified documents which were submitted during the application as well as their originals or send them to the following address before the arrival:

Language requirements

English
Accepted proof of proficiency: Cambridge English, IELTS, TOEFL or other equivalent.

  • A minimum of A2 current language level is needed for applicants to Bachelor’s study programmes.
  • A minimum of B1 current language level is needed for applicants to Master’s study programmes.

Please indicate your approximate level of English if you do not have any official certificate of English proficiency.
The level of your English will be decided after taking special test before the prep. course.

A2, B1, B2 levels of English are offered.

 

Other requirements

A motivational interview may be applied.

 

Architecture preparatory course

About the course

This intensive course will help you prepare for integrated Architecture studies if you did not attend additional courses/school of drawing/arts. The core components of the course are Drawing, Architectural composition, and Introduction of art and architecture history: from general art trends to the stages of drawing, proportion, perspective.
Course is held in a group of 4-7 students.

Students who complete the course will receive an Architecture preparatory course certificate. The credits of preparatory course are not included into the study plan of integrated study programme of Architecture.

Duration

The duration of the course is 1 semester (18 ECTS).

 

Tuition fee

The tuition fee of preparatory course is 1000 Euros.

Entry requirements

Architecture preparatory (foundation) course is offered only to those who intend to continue integrated studies at KTU in Architecture but do not have required drawing and composition skills. Therefore the applicant must meet general requirements of integrated Architecture study programme.

 

Previous education requirements

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Russian.

The applicant must present all documents which are requested to enter integrated study programme of Architecture (except the portfolio).

The documents must be legalised (Apostille) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued. This requirement does not apply for the documents issued in the EU and Belarus, Ukraine.

You must take verified copies of the entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

If you do not have required English language proficiency, you may take English language preparatory course along with the Architecture preparatory course.
