Transfer studies

Students who have already started their studies in another institution can use an opportunity to start their studies at KTU from subsequent semester by transferring already completed modules.

 

Process of admission to the transfer studies

  1. An applicant submits the following documents in the system:
    1. application at apply.ktu.edu;
    2. the documents certifying the learning outcomes (transcript of records);
    3. information about the achievement evaluation system applied in another higher education institution and percentage breakdown of the evaluation of the participants of the studies.
  2. The International Studies Office initially verifies the applicant’s compliance with the admission requirements.
  3. The faculty identifies the status of the higher education institution: the cycle of studies, the type of studies and other data required for the inclusion of the learning outcomes, initially interprets and assesses the learning outcomes characteristic to a study field or area.
  4. The faculty assesses the eligibility of the submitted learning outcomes to the study programme and provides the International Studies Office with information about the year and semester of studies the applicant may be admitted to.
  5. The International Studies Office continues all other standard procedures for the admission of foreign citizens to the University.

Admission to subsequent semester of studies

Stages of the admission

 

  1. The persons who want to resume studies after their suspension, to be readmitted to another study programme or want to continue studies at the University after the graduation from the college studies (who have a college non-university higher education) and acquire the university Bachelor’s qualification degree.
  2. While applying to the subsequent semester of studies, considering the content of the study programme intended to be studied, the learning achievements of the previous studies are included. The persons who have got assessments of the subjects making at least 24 study credits in total in their previous studies, i.e., the persons who have successfully completed the first semester of studies, are eligible for admission to the second semester of studies.
  3. The persons are admitted to the subsequent semester of studies if they want to resume studies after their suspension and they failed to get the assessments of the remaining share of the modules of the study programme and/or to did not prepare and defended the final degree project.
  4. The persons are admitted for the defence of the final degree project if they want to resume studies after their suspension if they did not defend or failed to defend the final degree project but got the assessment of the study module of the final degree project.
  5. The information about the procedure for admission to the subsequent semester of studies at the University is provided at the Study Centres of the faculties on working days: Monday – Thursday, 8:00-17:00, Fridays, 8:00-15:45, lunch break 12:00-12:45. Application process

 

  1. The applications for participation in the competition for admission to the subsequent semester of studies are submitted at the Study Centres of the faculties.
  2. While submitting an application, it is mandatory to fill in all the required data and specify a motivated preference of the study programme.
  3. The copies of the following documents are attached to the application:
    • ID card or passport;
    • A maturity certificate and its supplement or another document certifying the acquired secondary education (for admission to the study programmes of the first cycle (Bachelor’s) studies);
    • A diploma and its supplement (appendix) or another document certifying the acquired higher education (for admission to the study programmes of the second cycle (Master’s) studies);
    • A certificate of completed subjects;
    • A certificate of the evaluation of the learning achievements achieved via non-formal and informal education, if any;
    • A document certifying the change of surname or name if not all the submitted documents are issued in the same surname or name.
  4. One preference can be specified in the application:
    • To obtain the right to resume studies in the first cycle or integrated studies, specify the study programme of the first cycle or integrated studies (the list of the programmes is provided in Appendix 1 to the Admission Rules;
    • To obtain the right to resume studies in the second cycle studies, specify the study programme of the second cycle studies (the list of the programmes is provided in Appendix 3 to the Admission Rules.
  5. In such cases, as specified in Paragraph 154 of the Admission Rules, an additional application is filled in for the admission for the defence of the final degree project instead of the admission to the subsequent semester of studies.
  6. An application’s examination begins when the University receives the notification of the paid application fee from the bank.

Making of the learning agreement

 

  1. The persons who accept the invitation to study at the University in the subsequent semester have to sign a student’s learning agreement with the University. The beginning of the studies for the persons admitted to additional studies coincides with the beginning of the autumn or spring semester.
  2. A registration fee has to be paid while making a learning agreement.
  3. If a learning agreement is made remotely via the University’s information system for making of contracts, the invited persons have to submit all the documents submitted in the information system for admission to the faculty’s Study Centre within the first 5 working days from the beginning of studies specified in the University’s academic calendar.
  4. A learning agreement can be made directly at the faculties. The applicants who make their learning agreement directly have to provide the original documents indicated in Paragraph 153 of the Admission Rules (show) or have their copies (submit).

Payment of the fees

 

  1. An application fee is paid while submitting an application for admission to the subsequent semester of studies.
  2. The application fee is non-refundable after the registration of the application for participation in the admission.
  3. Upon the receipt of the invitation to studies, a registration fee has to be paid while making a learning agreement.
  4. The persons are only admitted to the subsequent semester to the state non-funded position. A tuition fee is calculated for each credit of the chosen module of the individual study plan; the price for one credit is approved by the decree of the University’s Senate and announced on the University’s websites at https://admissions.ktu.edu/bachelor/#tuition-fees  and https://admissions.ktu.edu/master/#tuition-fees.
  5. In such cases, as specified in Paragraph 161 of the Admission Rules the applicant does not have to pay the application fee and the registration fee while submitting the application for admission, only the fee for the defence of the final degree project of the main studies after the set deadline and/or the defence of the final degree project of the minor studies after the set deadline in the amount approved by the decree of the Senate of the University in the current year.
  6. The details for payment of the fees are provided in Appendix 7 to the Admission Rules.
  7. An application fee and a registration fee are not applied to the students of Kaunas University of Technology who want to change their study programme.
  8. If a state-funded position of studies becomes vacant in the study programme, a student has the right to take this position under the procedure of competition established at the University according to his/her learning outcomes if there are no reasons for which the state funding is not allocated to studies. The vacant positions are taken until the beginning of each semester.
