Research Topics

Topic title Possible scientific supervisors Source of funding
Application of the "Tree City" Concept in Modeling Urban Structures
doc. prakt. Gražina Bernotienė
prof. dr. Jūratė Kamičaitytė »
state-funded
Research Topic Summary.
The presented topic will seek to assess to what extent and which principles of the functioning of natural ecosystems could be relevant in creating more sustainable cities characterized by circular metabolism, creating a self-regulating sustainable connection with the biosphere (dynamic equilibrium), how this could be realized from a methodological and technological point of view, and how this could be expressed in the aesthetic visual dimension and reflected in the psychonomic level of perception of urban structures.

Testimonials

A young man with short dark hair, a mustache and beard, wearing a dark polo shirt, arms crossed in front, smiling professionally, photographed against a neutral background.

I chose to continue my doctoral studies at KTU because I believe in the opportunities offered by the university, the expertise of the lecturers, and the supportive community that fosters growth. This field of study is unique because it is jointly organised by KTU and the Vilnius Academy of Arts. This allows students to experience two different approaches, expand their knowledge in various fields of science and art, and observe the processes first-hand.

Although the joint doctoral programme in architecture with the Vilnius Academy of Arts is very new, it is highly relevant. It is ideal for those seeking unique ideas in a reasoned, conceptual way, transforming their creative or research activities into a specific method of artistic enquiry. Rather than presenting the tools themselves, the programme focuses on the ways in which they can be used.

After more than thirteen years of private practice in interior architecture, I feel very privileged to be able to return to academia and study. KTU’s doctoral programme in art field offers the chance to analyse pressing social issues from various angles and develop creative solutions.
