Energetics and Power Engineering

The only joint doctoral studies in the scientific field of Energetics and Power Engineering in Lithuania, provided by Kaunas University of Technology and Lithuanian Energy Institute, prepare highly qualified energy scientists for industry and education institutions. Doctoral studies of this scientific field are provided in priority research topics: Sustainable energy – the effective usage of fossil fuel and primary renewable energy sources in the energy generation systems and technologies, reduction of environmental impact; Fundamental and applied research of transfer processes in thermal technologies; The simulation and investigation of the smart grid technologies and regimes of the sustainable electric power systems. Prepared dissertations reflect the peculiarities of the areas of Thermal energetics, Nuclear energetics and Electrical energetics.
The aim of the programme is to prepare the highly qualified scientists of energetics and power engineering for industry and education institutions.

Minimum requirements

Persons with a Master’s Degree or equivalent degree of higher education may participate in an open competition for admission to doctoral studies.

Applicants to the doctoral program in the field of science are accepted by competition according to the competition score. Minimum Competition Score 8

 

Application procedure

Application and the following documents are submitted online at apply.ktu.edu

  • Official legalised Bachelor’s and Master’s diplomas or a higher education degree equivalents and academic transcripts (translated into English or Lithuanian and notary verified)
  • A copy of the passport page containing personal data, or ID card
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Recommendations by two academic referees or researchers from the relevant field of science
  • List of scientific publications (also accepted publications)
  • Copies of scientific publications (or a research paper on the topic (-s) consistent with the dissertation topic (-s) indicated in the candidate’s application, if a candidate does not have any publication)
  • Copy of application fee payment (40 EUR for EU citizens, and 100 EUR for non-EU citizens)
  • Certificate of English proficiency: IELTS >=6.5, TOEFL>=90, ECFR>=C1, or equivalent (or a proof that the previous studies were in English)
  • Consent for the processing of the candidate’s personal data at the University

Research experience in ten-point grading system (publications, evaluated in points, according to current methodology for evaluation of research production, approved by Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania, or research paper and other research experience, and research qualifications, conformity of research publications and research experience with topic of doctoral studies
