This programme is prepared for the specialists, who already have the qualification of higher education, and work or are planning to work at secondary schools, but they don’t have the qualification of a teacher. The objective of the programme is to prepare the pedagogue, who has good knowledge of pedagogy, is able to apply his/her knowledge into his/her practical activity.

Financial support
The theoretical part of the programme (30 credits) is carried out remotely. Lectures are transmitted directly from KTU Information Technology Department e-Learning Technology Center. Students can watch live lectures online, ask questions, discuss. If students are not able to follow a live lecture programme because of their employment, they can view the recorded video at a convenient time. All examinations and some consultations are carried out when students arrive at the university.
Pedagogical practice (30 credits) is carried out at the student-teacher’s workplace or in another offered educational institution. Practitioners are supervised by a mentor-supervisor appointed by the order of the director of that school. Pedagogical practice can also be carried out in foreign educational institutions.
The study programme is completed by the final thesis of pedagogical studies, which is prepared in accordance with the strategy of pedagogical activity improvement research.

– Able to prepare educational (learning) programme for various objectives and change it according to the students’ needs;
– Able to get to know students (identifying their special needs, providing additional assistance, assessing student’s development, cognitive abilities, empathetically identifying emotional difficulties, accepting student’s individuality as his/her value);
– Able to actively learn and reflect personal educational activities, improve educational solutions, work in the team and in the organisation.
– Achievement of the results stipulated in general education programmes, providing conditions for development of student’s moral, social, cultural and civil maturity, and foundation for national self-awareness, acquisition of integral fundamentals of general and special competences and a chance to try various activities;
– Providing conditions for students to reach personal maturity, acquire general and special competences, make decision regarding their professional career.
– Improvement of qualification and competence of teachers of regular subjects, dissemination of good practice, encouragement of colleagues to develop their pedagogical self-expression and creativity, implement innovations and pursue quality of education.
– Development of student’s competences allowing an individual to become an active member of society, successfully operate is society, help to meet cognitive and self-expression needs, strengthening of self-confidence and motivation under non-formal education programme.
