Public Policy and Security

Being overwhelmed by many security issues in public policy, it is more important than ever to understand this dynamic process, and to be able to assess emerging risks, threats, and their management mechanisms. Within our political science study departments, we have established an open and competent team of lecturers and scientists, and a programme that provides students with the necessary analytical tools and expertise for 21st century challenges.

Strong competencies in policy and security analysis

Students will analyse contemporary public policy and security processes, and evaluate them at national, European, international, and global levels. Through this, graduates will be able to professionally identify public policy and security issues, present their solutions and predict the expected consequences, and analyse the development and prospects of public policy and security processes.


Opportunity to work in the public sector

Graduates will be able to work in consultative, managerial, and research areas in institutions and organisations of the European Union, public and business organisations, municipalities, ministries, embassies, other public sector organisations, and non-governmental organisations. The programme graduates tend to pursue a political career, working with political parties or parliament.


Studies and internships abroad

Under the ERASMUS+ Exchange Programme, students can study for one or two semesters in a selected European and international university, including placement practice at international organisations and institutions.

This study programme appeals to socially active, ambitious students, capable of generating political ideas. Good motivation determines a creative and learning-oriented environment that helps master the knowledge and the skills that students need.



Student’s competences:

  • analysis and assessment of modern public policy and security processes at national, European, international and global level;
  • professional identification of public policy and security problems, and forecasting their solutions and probable consequences;
  • analysis of development and prospects of public policy and security processes.

Student’s skills:

  • able to solve complex tasks of public policy, management, and security in new environments;
  • able to make data-based decisions in the areas of public policy and security;
  • able to recognise arising risks for the state and methods of management.

  • Assessment  and  forecasting policy risks.
  • Disaster management.
  • Assessment of impact, financial consequences, synergies with other programmes, political and administrative viability policy.
  • Review of the applied policy and legislation aiming to identify discrepancies and obsolete provisions.
  • Provision and analysis of possibilities of political choices, preparation of documents and recommendations for changes of policies.
  • Promotion of public sector values and public interest.
  • Maintenance of communication, implementation and maintenance of document preparation.
  • Coordination of internal management, public finances, human resources and team building.
  • Regulatory compliance with respective legislation, documents and standards.
  • Analysis of public policies and forecast of future trends in politics.
  • Review of the applied policy and legislation aiming to identify discrepancies and absolute provisions.
  • Management and delivery of threats and risk assessment in reference with public interest.
  • Experts consulting and working at international organization (intergovernmental organization) which is established by a treaty or other instrument governed by international law and possessing its own international legal personality (United Nations, World Bank, World Health Organization, etc.)

Additional requirements

Often you can get a suitable transcript of bachelor degree from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Russian.

The documents must be legalised (Apostille) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued. This requirement does not apply for the documents issued in the EU and Belarus, Ukraine.
