Public Policy and Security

Being overwhelmed by many security issues in public policy, it is more important than ever to understand this dynamic process, to be able to assess emerging risks, threats, and their management mechanisms. A successful experience in organising political study programmes has allowed the formation of an open and competent team of lecturers and scientists, whose arranged programme provides students with the necessary analytical tools and prepares the experts for the 21st century challenges.

Strong competencies in policy and security analysis

Graduates analyse contemporary public policy and security processes, evaluate them at national, European, international, and global levels; professionally identify public policy and security issues; present their solutions and predict the expected consequences; analyse the development and prospects of public policy and security processes.


Opportunity to work in the public sector

Graduates will be able to work in consultative, managerial, and research areas in municipalities, ministries, other public sector organisations, embassies, institutions and organisations of the European Union, public and business organizations, and non-governmental organizations.
Our political science graduates tend to pursue a political career, for example, being elected to Lithuanian parliament, working in political parties.


Studies and internships abroad

Under the ERASMUS+ Exchange Programme, students can study for one or two semesters in a selected foreign university, as well as gain practice at international companies and organisations.

This study programme is usually chosen by socially active, ambitious students, capable of generating political ideas. Good motivation determines a creative and learning-oriented environment that helps master the knowledge and the skills that students need.



Student’s competences:
– Analysis and assessment of modern public policy and safety processes at the national, European, international and global level;
– Professional identification of public policy and safety problems, forecasts of their solutions and probable consequences;
– Analysis of development and prospects of public policy and safety processes.


Student’s skills:
– Able to solve complex tasks of public policy, management, and safety in new environments;
– Able to make data-based decisions in the areas of public policy and safety;
– Able to recognise arising risks for the state and methods of their management.



You may become

– Planning, management and coordination of general operation of the company, institution or organisation;
– Monitoring and assessment of organisation’s performance according to the set objectives and policies;
– Insurance of preparation and implementation of appropriate systems and procedures for budget control;
– Organisation’s representation on official occasions and at the meetings of the board, negotiations, events, seminars, public deliberations of projects and forums.

– Preparation, implementation and monitoring of strategic plans, programmes, policy, processes, systems and procedures for implementation of tasks, objectives and operational standards;
– Preparation, administration, supervision of and participation in scientific research and analysis of policy;
– Coordination of implementation of policies and practices.

– Establishment, preparation and management of implementation of policies of the organisations of political parties, trade unions, employee organisations, trade and industry associations, humanitarian aid or charity organisations or sports associations, and representation of these organisations acting on their behalf;
– Establishment and preparation of the organisation’s policies, rules and regulations;
– Planning, coordination and management of the organisation’s general operations.

– Maintenance of communication with administrators of public programmes and other interested parties, consultations for establishment of policy needs;
– Provision and analysis of possibilities of political choices, preparation of information documents and recommendations for changes of policies, consultations on prioritised choices;
– Performance of threat and risk assessment and their management.

Additional requirements

Often you can get a suitable transcript of bachelor degree from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Russian.

The documents must be legalised (Apostille) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country where the documents were issued. This requirement does not apply for the documents issued in the EU and Belarus, Ukraine.
